Messy Care and Discipleship

This  fall Roger Corbin will be offering an 8 week course called, Intro to  Messy Care and Discipleship. We will plan to start in October.

The  focus of this course will be to equip the people in the Church to  engage in one-another gospel care. There are so many in our churches  that are suffering in silence for many reasons but one of them is that  they don't think anyone would care enough to invest in their lives and  come alongside them in their suffering. This course will show you how to  do that. We will learn to identify those around us that are in need of  care and how to be used by God in someone's life.

Sometimes  we don't know what to say in certain situations. This course will show  you that you cannot write a script that will work in any given situation  but there are guides that we use. The great thing is that God has  provided all that we need to care for others, the bible and the Holy  Spirit. We will learn to rely on the Holy Spirit to give us what we need  to care for others. If we are willing to enter into someone's struggle  God will use us.

The preliminary format that I have come up with is as follows:

• Participants view the teaching lesson at home on their own. (20-25 minute video)
• Participants read the short chapter in the book and do the bible study in the chapter on their own. (30 minutes)
• We have a group time to watch the online roundtable discussion to learn how other experienced displiplers care for others.
• We discuss what we have learned and review the book material. (1 hr  to 1.5 hrs.) This may be online for some if they live far away but in  person for the rest.
• Pray for each other and build a community to support each other and share our experiences through the process.

I  have a group subscription that I have purchased and then each person  sets up their own account to get access to the materials.There is a  small subscription fee of $6.00 per month to get access to the online  teaching. This will require a 2 month subsription unless we miss a class  then it will require 3 months. This will include access to other  biblical counseling courses if the student desires to take them.

This is for any Christian that has a desire to help others.

I  am convinced that there are people in our lives right now that have a  life struggle. Maybe it is you. This study will help with both.

In my Biblical Counseling ministry I have to counsel myself all the time with what I am counseling others with.
